Black Asian and Minority Ethnic Business of the Year

Celebrating the outstanding contributions of Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic businesses. This award will be presented to a business owner that identifies as Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic, who has demonstrated that they have contributed to furthering the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic inclusion agenda within their workplace and has made a significant positive impact over the past year.

In shortlisting, judges will consider the evidence provided for the following:

  • The business journey, for example what makes the business a success, how the businesses has adapted and flourished over the last year.

  • Growth and financial performance to date.

  • Active involvement in initiatives or networks aimed at empowering the Black Asian and Minority Ethnic business community.

  • Engagement, commitment, and collaboration with customers, staff, and stakeholders.

  • Innovation and creativity, including effective leadership and management.

  • Demonstrating social value, for example apprenticeships (created/sustained), supporting young people into work, use of local suppliers, use of local skills/labour, bringing other businesses into the supply chain, community engagement/involvement.

  • Demonstrating Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG), for example the company’s impact on society, the environment (including net zero), and how transparent and accountable it is.

  • Future growth plans and contribution to Knowsley.
