Knowsley Safari was opened in 1971 and remains one of the region’s most well-loved and popular visitor destinations, consistently attracting over half a million visitors a year.
There is a long history of keeping animals on the Knowsley estate; in the 19th century, the 13th Earl of Derby, a renowned natural scientist, created his own menagerie.
Today, Knowsley Safari is jam packed with things to do both in and out of the car.
Over 700 animals, and 80 species can be spotted in the Safari’s extensive animals habitats, including rhinos, tigers, lions and baboons. Events and demonstrations throughout the year are designed to appeal to all ages.
